    Writers Strike

Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 01:05 PM EST [Rants]

Is anyone else just completely irritated by the writers strike? Why does this have to happen now. The current television programs are just so good and I have been looking forward to seeing what happens. How Claire Mead, will get out of jail on Ugly Betty. Will Lexie and Meredith Gray ever come to terms about their relationship on Grey's Anatomy. Most important of all Will Lucas Scott and Peyton Sawyer find their way back to each other on One Tree Hill. The writers strike has completely come at a bad time. I understand what they are striking over and their grievences are justified. I think the Entertainment Industry needs to get more involved and get off their high horse and learn to compromise. Put yourself in the shoes of these creative people that are being treated very unfairly. You would feel just as they do. You would do anything in your power to gain equality and that is exactly what these people are doing. So Mr. Big Money Entertainment Man get over yourself and remember that the you are nothing without the people working under you. The actors, writers and production staff make you what you are so learn to treat people fairly. Thanks for listening to the rant.

Yes; I feel the same way. There is a very unfortunate ripple effect from this strike with a lot of people whose livelihood comes from these shows being off of work. Sad, but I have to say that the writers are doing the right thing here. It's taking an appalling amount of time for the studio execs to respond as they should, though. Something I read in the paper this AM makes me think we may be at the beginning of the end: tinyurl.com/3a88r5

Great article from Forbes.com. Shows that some late night show are finding ways to end the strike. Congrats to David Letterman and Craig Ferguson for compromising with the disgruntled writers.

You always have to thank the small people that help you get to where you are. So if you are the head of a huge company, remember that it is your customer service workers who help keep your customers happy. If you have a hit TV show, remember that it is the writes that made it happen. Yeah the actors are nice, but without the writers they would not have anything to say. So pay them, and let the shows continue.
